The Outpost Story
The Outpost Story
Built for the Ones Who Live Close to the Line.
We are born from the culture of wildland fire — the grit, the solitude, the early mornings, and the long stretches spent far from anything easy. A spike camp isn't comfort. It's necessity. It's where crews stage up, gear up, and get ready to push into the rough country. That mindset is the backbone of everything we make.
My father was a logger, wildland firefighter, biker, and muscle car enthusiast who spent the better part of his working life in the backcountry of Idaho and Montana. He was a hard man in the best sense. He showed up when he said he would. He kept his word always — if you said you were going to do something, you better well do it. A handshake meant something. He didn't need to talk about it. He just did it.
That's where this brand comes from.
Our logo — the fire lookout — stands for vigilance, resilience, and the quiet strength of the backcountry.
It's a symbol of the people who keep watch when no one else is around. The anchor of our identity and the lens through which we design every product.
The standard I was raised against was a high bar. I'm still reaching for it.
We craft leather goods that hold up to real wear, not showroom lighting. No gimmicks. No shortcuts. Just durable materials and clean, functional design inspired by the gear wildland crews rely on.
And because every long shift, early roll-out, and late-night drive starts with a cup in hand, we roast coffee that matches the lifestyle — strong, straightforward, and made for people who don't have time for weak brews.
There's a right way to do this and a wrong way. That's not a matter of opinion. The right way takes longer. It costs more. It means sometimes a piece doesn't leave the bench because it isn't ready. That's fine. It's not leaving until it is.
We partnered with Evans Brothers Coffee out of Sandpoint, Idaho because they hold the same values — craft matters, quality isn't negotiable, and the work speaks for itself.
Together we built two lineups dialed for the field. Craft roasted, made for campfire brewing, and built with the women and men of wildland firefighting in mind — along with every hunter, mountaineer, and early riser who wants a great cup of coffee to start or sustain their day.
You don't have to be on a hand crew or in a lookout tower to get it. Spike Camp Outpost is for anyone who respects the grind, the wilderness, and the people who show up when the hills light up.
My father passed a few years ago. He never saw this brand. But everything here — the way we build, the way we stand behind it, the way we'd rather say nothing than say something we can't back up — that's all him.
If a stitch fails because we built it wrong, we fix it. Not because it's good marketing. Because it's the right thing to do and we don't live in the grey area.
You work hard for your money. So do we. The least we can do is make sure what you get from us is worth every dollar of it.
