This is a general guide. Boot construction varies — some hiking boots with extra eyehooks may need a 72 in lace. When in doubt, measure your old laces. If you are between sizes, go shorter.
If a lace fails early: Check your eyelets for sharp edges or burrs. A cobbler can replace worn metal grommets that may be cutting into the lace.
